The 2008 Festival Italiano needs more than 200
volunteers to produce the two day event.
Please sign up for as many shifts as possible.
We promise you will have a great time!
Once you have submitted
your application, a Festival Italiano representative
will contact you regarding your status, assignment
and scheduling. By submitting this application
you are indicating that you have read and agree
to the 2008 Festival Italiano Volunteer Program
Information (below).
ATTENDANCE
We depend on your commitment to participate.
Your presence and prompt arrival for your scheduled
shifts are absolutely necessary. VERY IMPORTANT:
If your schedule changes, or if you have an
emergency, please contact Carol Hiller at 303-282-5073.
ARRIVAL
You must check in at the Volunteer Headquarters
at the “Start Time” of each shift
you work. At the time of check-in you will receive
directions to your station and your volunteer
meal voucher. The Volunteer Headquarters location
will be announced in an e-mail that you will
receive prior to the festival.
WHAT TO WEAR
As the weather in Colorado can be very unpredictable
especially at the end of September, we ask that
you dress casual, comfortable and weather appropriate.
We also suggest you wear comfortable shoes as
you could be standing most of your shift.
TRAINING
All volunteers, new and returning, will receive
a detailed job responsibility description and
other volunteer and Festival Italiano information.
We ask that you are familiar with your responsibilities
prior to your shift. At the beginning of your
shift you will receive a brief orientation.
We will make sure you are equipped with the
knowledge and tools to complete your responsibilities.
VOLUNTEER
MEALS AND BEVERAGE TICKETS
At check-in, each volunteer will be given a
meal voucher valid with most food vendors. Participating
vendors will be listed at Volunteer HQ.
Beverages are available at Volunteer Check-In
/ Headquarters.
BEER/WINE/WATER
SALES
Volunteers will sell beer, wine, soda and bottled
water during the event. Volunteers for Beer/Wine/Water
Sales must be 21 or over. Volunteers must be
willing and able to lift cases of beer, wine,
and water in order to keep beverages stocked
in each booth.
BOCCE TOURNAMENT
Volunteers will assist with Bocce Team Registration,
updating tournament brackets, rake bocce courts as
needed between games, maintain water station, assist
bocce referees and maintain cleanliness of spectator
areas.
CHILDREN’S
AREA
Volunteers will bring in children to listen to classic
Italian story readings and assist balloon artist and
face painter with line control so that they may get
necessary breaks.
GRAPE
STOMPING
Grape stomping for kids will be held at 12 noon, 2pm,
4pm and 6pm each day. Volunteers will assist
Balistreri Vineyards register the children and move
them through the grape stomping system. More
details/training given on-site by Balistreri Vineyards.
CHEF
DEMONSTRATIONS
There will be a variety of local chefs demonstrating
delectable Italian dishes. Volunteers will assist
chefs with any prepping or cleaning needed during
the demonstrations, distribute recipe cards
and tasting samples to the audience, refresh
demo area and clean equipment and dishes between
each demo.
ITALIAN WINE
SEMINARS
Volunteers will be responsible for checking
identification and collecting fees from each
participant. Volunteers will assist the seminar
hosts in handouts or anything else they may
need to facilitate the wine seminar. Volunteers
will refresh/replenish water cups on the tables,
refresh the classroom setting (straighten chairs,
wipe tables, take away trash) between each seminar.
Volunteers will also fill water carafes between
each seminar. Volunteers must be 21 years of
age.
INFORMATION
BOOTH
The Information Booth is where people will get
the festival programs, ask general questions
about the festival and purchase merchandise.
The volunteers will answer general questions
about the festival and activities. Knowledge
of the festival and familiarity with Belmar
is required and will be offered on site.
ITALIAN
LESSONS
Volunteers will bring people in to listen to
the Italian lessons, help pass around any handouts,
assist the instructor with any of her needs
and straighten area between each lesson.
AUTHENTIC
ITALIAN ENTERTAINMENT LIASON
Authentic Italian entertainers will perform throughout
the day. Volunteers will work along side the
entertainers and their liason to assist with requests
or questions, keep the key to the apartment that will
serve as their "greenroom" for breaks and
changing, keep the apartment stocked with bottled
water and cups, distribute food vouchers to the entertainers
and their liason, assist with clearing area for the
show, if needed.
VOLUNTEER HEADQUARTERS
/ FLOATER
Volunteers will facilitate Volunteer Registration,
help staff Volunteer Headquarters throughout
the day, make rounds to all areas to take water
to volunteers and offer breaks to volunteers,
as needed.
