QuickStop Parking FAQs
How do I use the QuickStop
parking kiosks?
After parking your vehicle, walk to the nearest QuickStop
kiosk and insert either coin change according to the amount of time you
would like to park or insert a credit card and select the amount you would
like to charge. The machine will print out a receipt showing the amount
paid, the date and the expiration time. Place the larger portion of the
receipt inside of your vehicle’s curbside window and then take the smaller
portion with you to remind you of your expiration time.
How will I find the
machine on a block?
Light blue QuickStop kiosks will be located in the middle
of each block. PAY HERE TO PARK light blue signs with directional arrows
will be located on each block to direct visitors to the kiosks.
Can I use my remaining
time?
If you have time remaining on your receipt and wish to park in another
quick-stop space within the Belmar district, simply re-park and display
the same receipt on your car dashboard.
Can I add more money
into the Belmar Kiosk after my time has expired?
If your time has expired and you wish to stay in the district longer,
you must either move your car to another block face and obtain a new ticket
to re-park or utilize one of Belmar’s free garages or lots.
What happens if I am
ticketed?
The first time you are ticketed, you will receive a free warning ticket.
Following the first warning, the ticket fee is $15 per violation. Payment
must be mailed in within 30 days of the ticket date or the ticket fee
doubles.
Who sets the rates and
where does the money go?
The City of Lakewood and Belmar Management Group have set the rates for
the metered parking. All monies collected from QuickStop
kiosks will be used to pay public amenities and cultural programs. In
essence, this means that the funds help to improve the streets, plaza
and parks and other public spaces, as well as contributing to the wide
range of art and cultural programs, event & exhibits. Essentially, the
money collected from the Belmar visitors will ultimately be used to beautiful
and enrich the district, thus ultimately benefiting the visitors.
Why is it necessary
to have metered parking at Belmar?
We feel it is important to provide convenient, quick-stop parking to those
visitors who are coming to the district for a quick errand or meal. By
metering these QuickStop spots and setting a 90 minuter
maximum, the spaces will turn over several times within a day, therefore
allowing many visitors to utilize them. Having a constant turnover of
parking also helps to keep the streets and district vibrant and active.
